United Kingdom adds new twists to potato packaging
When you imagine the English farm, you may think of a small quaint operation with stone fences surrounding the fields. The new reality in the United Kingdom is far from that – today the specialty crops farms are big and integrated.

The “Potato Picker’s Special” is a live TV show airs 4:30 to 6:00 a.m. on WAGM-TV in Presque Isle, throughout the harvest season. The show finished its 43rd year this past fall. Growers tune in to the program, as do the people who want to work for them

A new Ivory Crisp potato variety bred at the Aberdeen Research and Extension Center, in conjunction with other states, promises to be ideal for the potato chip industry because of its high tuber solids and cold storage attributes.
